Harvest Ganong
Harvest is a Wilmington, North Carolina based artist. While using a variety of mediums and styles throughout her career as a sculptor and painter, she seems to always be highly influenced by the human figure. Through the human figure she is able to not only have the viewer reflect on themselves, but also appreciate the true and simple beauty of the human form. While obtaining her Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts (BFA) from Western Carolina University with a concentration of sculpture, she became influenced with the works of Louise Bourgeois, Kiki Smith, and Magdalena Abakanowicz, unapologetic female sculptors that dove into the unconventional form of the human body, which sparked the path for Harvest Ganong. Since then she has contributed to the Nina Hole fire sculpture located on the Appalachian State University Campus, art exhibits in the Wedge Gallery in Asheville NC, as well as the Calico Room Wilmington NC and several of the local restaurants. More recently, she has created collage portraits of famous people using non recyclable plastics. Her work will be featured by the UNCW Just US Project and used for a curriculum impacting K-12 students.
